FAQ

Questions worth answering honestly.

If yours is not here, ask it on LinkedIn.

Is QuantPad really free?

Yes. Every puzzle, lesson, exercise, contest and exam is free, with no card and no advertising. The project is MIT licensed.

Do I need an account?

Yes, to keep your progress between devices: sign in with Google or with an email and a code. You can read this site without one.

Which languages can I use?

JavaScript, TypeScript, Python and SQL run in your browser. Julia, C++, C# and OCaml run on the QuantPad runner. Other languages are shown for reading only, and the app says so instead of showing a Run button that does nothing.

Who is it for?

Students and career changers aiming at markets, data or M&A, and juniors who want the next level. It assumes you can already write basic code; it does not assume any finance.

What if nobody is online for a duel?

Bots fill the lobby with solve times drawn from a model of puzzle difficulty and skill. They are labelled as bots everywhere.

Are the certificates recognised by employers?

No, and the certificate says so. It records that the work was done under the monitored conditions it lists, with a digest anyone can check.

How are the answers guaranteed correct?

Expected values are computed at build time by running each exercise’s own reference solution, then replayed as a self-check. An exercise cannot ship with a test its solution fails.

What do you do with my data?

We store your progress so it can sync, and nothing else. No tracking, no advertising, no resale. You can export or delete your account at any time.
